Why our Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting is Important: Our Accounting & Finance Department monitors and maintains the companies' financial resources to maximize profitability. Duties include statutory accounting, financial performance reporting, cost analysis, and tax management. This senior accountant role will focus on financial reporting, providing accurate and timely financial information to colleagues and key relevant parties in the organization. Essential Duties Review accounting staff’s work, including posting all financial transactions to ensure that the data is entered into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor internal controls and tests to ensure they are working as intended and regularly appraise internal control systems for effectiveness. Identify and propose modifications when necessary. Assist Manager in the preparation of budget to actual expense reports. Assist Manager in preparing all required statutory, regulatory and government reports and statements. Assist Manager in analyzing financial statements and various financial reports to identify significant trends. Develop a thorough knowledge of the accounting software and report writing capabilities of the software to be able to generate financial reports efficiently. Modify/design and implement processes for improved internal control effectiveness and efficiency. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or comparable experience) and 2 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience with GAAP required with statutory accounting procedures. Knowledge of advanced accounting principles, methods, theories, practices, and equipment including data processing programs and equipment. Knowledge of insurance industry and insurance accounting both statutory and GAAP (preferred). Knowledge of management principles and practices. Comfortable interpreting policies and processes. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other employees, management, policyholders, and the general public.
