Job Description Job Description Salary: Job Overview: To work closely with the Procurement, Projects and Sales departments to create timely, cost-effective import and/or exportation of raw materials and finished goods. Individual is responsible for handling the technical details of international transportation – multiple modes, complex documentation, and varying customs regulations, and building relationships with logistics intermediaries. Serves as a logistics expert with knowledge of issues inherent with transporting over dimensional, project cargo worldwide. Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities. Ocean Carrier – Freight Forwarder selection for projects. Heavy hauler selection for projects. Whether or not to send Logistics Coordinators to witness either loading or off-loading of equipment at shop, port or jobsite. Project assignment of Logistics Coordinator. Responsibilities Manages the performance of all domestic and international carriers, freight forwarders and freight brokers. Ensures compliance with international and U.S. laws related to import/export activity. Evaluates, on a project basis, trade-offs between modes of transportation, transportation costs, and service levels. Managing department personnel to ensure on time deliveries of components. Supports Sales department by developing logistics strategies and processes for entering new and existing markets on a global basis. Formal education: Four-year college education Experience: 5 – 8 years Knowledge of international commerce and customs/trade regulations. Understanding of company’s strategic objectives and needs. Market Conditions – pricing, carrier availability, deliveries, etc Analytical accounting and basic math. Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Oral & Written Comprehension & Expression – The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and/or written words as well as the ability to communicate information and ideas in either spoken or in writing so others will understand. Change Management – The ability to nurture and champion a culture of change by empowering employees to accept and embrace changes in their current work environment. Negotiations – The ability to negotiate contact fostering favoritism to the organization. Unusual Working Conditions, if any: About 10 – 15% travel required by car or plane. Ability to read, write, problem solve, make quick decisions, interpret data and analyze results; effective written and verbal communication is essential.
