Faculty.Instructor.Instructor - Part-Time - Military veterans preferred

The Department of Geology and Environmental Science (http://www.geology.pitt.edu) at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Part-Time Instructor position for Surface Water Hydrology for the academic year 2024-2025. The position is outside of the tenure stream. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Geology & Environmental Science courses at the undergraduate/graduate level.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching Geology 1050/2050 Surface Water Hydrology at the undergraduate and graduate level, for the 2025 Spring term (2254).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Hold Master’s or terminal degree in Environmental Science, Geology or related field at the time of appointment. A PhD ABD is also acceptable.
• Applicants should have experience in Hydrology, particularly surface water hydrology
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Geology & Environmental Science.

Preferred Qualification:

• Hold Ph.D. in Hydrology. Environmental Science, Geology, or related field at the time of appointment.
• Research interests enabling potential collaboration with existing department faculty.
• Experience in hydrological concepts, field methods and code-based analyses.
• Interest in teaching hydrologic analysis skills using computer-based methods (e.g. GIS, R, python, etc.)

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills and are excited to join a highly collaborative environment. This role is designated as onsite and requires incumbents to report to work at the University of Pittsburgh. The position requires moderate standing, walking, lifting, and computer-based tasks.
