Graduate Student Advisor
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Academic Advisor position in the Katz Graduate School of Business. The Academic Advisor will manage all functions necessary to administer graduate business programs as assigned by the Director of Graduate Programs. This position is responsible for end-to-end student satisfaction beginning with matriculation and through the graduation certification process, which includes the following:
In addition, the Academic Advisor provides student services support for students as directed by Associate Director and compiles statistical data for reports and surveys upon request for both internal and external sources. The incumbent will work collaboratively with peers and independently within the scope of responsibilities with occasional day-to-day monitoring by Associate Director. In addition, the incumbent coordinates with faculty as needed regarding routine academic and curricular matters.
Utilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.
Advising students, maintaining database, registration sessions, orientation sessions. Ability to interact with others, inside and outside of the University. Ability to use PC/Software. Good interpersonal and organization skills and working knowledge of University procedures. Work in the Graduate Education Suite should reflect attention to detail.
This position is generally sedentary but requires mobility (primarily on-campus or locally) and may require standing and traveling. No heavy lifting is required.
