How will your days be spent

Business Development/Client Management

  • Responsible for continuous management and development of key, repeat clients.
  • Research current and identify potential clients to develop strategies to approach them regarding future work that aligns with the firm’s core competencies.
  • Market and secure new project work for the New York office as well as the overall Flad organization, when appropriate.
  • Responsible for presenting Flad’s services to potential clients. Aid in developing strategies for approaching clients. Assist in directing, coordinating, and structuring marketing activities presentation materials. Participate in client interviews.
  • This position is directly responsible for the execution of the work as a seller-doer, including the meeting of project goals, client service and satisfaction, quality of work performed, development of project staffing and plans, utilization of staff, marketing reputation of the firm, and project profitability.

Leadership & Project Management

  • Develop successful working relationships with the designers and planners to ensure an integrated project is produced.
  • Overall responsibility for leading, motivating, and providing team environment for the project members by inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, challenging the process, and exercising good judgement.
  • Present at internal training sessions and other educational opportunities, present at external conferences and seminars.
  • Determine and articulate project team skills required for the execution of the project and communicate them through the team responsibilities matrix during the planning phase.
  • Responsible for overall project quality including program, planning, design, and technical product.
  • Responsible for developing the project fees and contracts during the planning phase, establishing the project schedule and budget during the start-up phase.
  • Coordinate response to client questions/concerns and follow-up regularly with the client.
  • Manage the coordination and relationship with project consultants, coordinate project agency reviews and submittals.


What you bring to this role

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of architectural experience and at least five years of project management experience with science and technology focused facilities required.
  • Excellent client management and leadership skills required.
  • Superior technical and presentation skills and a commitment to design excellence essential.
  • Projects completed with multiple clients preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional registration preferred.
  • Sustainability accreditation preferred.

Annual base salary range is currently $160,000 – $215,000. Actual starting salary will be within that range, and is dependent upon job-related education, knowledge, and experience.
