Job Summary:

Compass Systems, Inc. is seeking an an experienced, accomplished, self-motivated electrical engineer with detailed knowledge and experience with pulsed-power electrical/electronic control systems. Working with technical staff, the Engineer will assist in implementation of power supply systems and design, construction, implementation, troubleshooting, general electronics and electrical systems. The ideal candidate is organized, an innovative problem solver, capable of working through technical challenges and employing pragmatic solutions through team efforts.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the pulser team to prepare and execute test activities in support of mainly MIL-STD-3023 High-Altitude Electromagnetic
  • Pulse testing of various military aircraft, weapon and communication systems
  • Build, operate, troubleshoot electromagnetic pulse simulators, high voltage/ high current equipment and specialized components
  • Calibrate, maintain, organize specialized test equipment
  • Research and develop current electromagnetic pulse simulators and subsystems to improve reliability and performance
  • Interact and coordinate with customers, contractors, subcontractors, technical leads, program managers, supervisors, executive supervisors to perform roles and responsibilities

Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's (or obtaining) in electrical engineering, physics, or an alternate degree with employment, research, or personal experience related to (pulsed power engineering, applied electromagnetics, high energy physics, etc.)
  • Familiarity of pulse forming networks involving high voltage pulsed power supplies and fast switching devices from a theoretical or practical standpoint
  • Knowledge regarding the practical use of RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, VNA's, etc)
  • Knowledge of analog and digital technologies

Desired:

  • Knowledgeable in performing magnetic and electrical field analysis of pulse forming networks using field sensors, fiber optics, oscilloscopes and signal processing software
  • Familiarity of engineering design tools for example: MATLAB, LABVIEW, CAD software (AutoCAD or solidworks), Circuit Modeling Software (Pspice or equivalent), etc

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Occasionally will need to lift and/or move up to 45lbs. Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
