Research Assistant
The Department of Psychology in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Research Assistant. This is a position in a research setting involving data collection on the effects of olfactory cues on cigarette cravings. Employee will be involved in the data collection and data management, will assist in initial recruitment and screening of potential subjects, and will be involved in the supervision of undergraduate student employees. Conducts research assessments and procedures independently. Oversees operations when leadership is unavailable. Recruits and screens participants, reviews records and surveys, and maintains databases. Performs routine data analysis and prepares reports, data visualizations, and models.
The nature of the duties inherent in this position requires that the incumbent be ambulatory, have the manual dexterity and visual acuity to proficiently operate a personal computer and other office machines, and be able to communicate effectively. This position frequently requires the incumbent to stand or walk for extended periods and to be able to lift papers, books, and files weighing more than five pounds.
The position is primarily sedentary, although walking to lab spaces in other buildings in Oakland and carrying equipment under 20lbs will be required for conducting study visits.
