Performs assigned duties supporting the development, implementation, and documentation of training. Acts as crew/team leader by evaluating and setting workflow priorities within the guidelines, policies, and procedures set by the Custodial Services Manager. Accurately disseminates instructions and information to unit personnel. Ensures procedures and guidelines are followed and makes written and oral reports to the Custodial Services Manager on operational status, attendance, behavior, and all aspects of the custodial operation as directed. Instructs and trains employees as directed by management. Ensures production goals are met. Implements and ensures daily compliance with all safety training and policy. Leads crews in routine and project work. Under the supervision of the Custodial Services Manager, issues corrective and disciplinary actions and corrects performance issues for staff under their supervision. Essential Functions Plans shift work and leads personnel involved in Custodial Services Operations under the guidelines and procedures and priorities set by the Custodial Services Manager. Assists in the development, and implementation of campus cleaning programs in accordance with industry best practices; applying judgment and in accordance with the work instruction received. Receives and inventories supplies and equipment as assigned. Keeps inventories up to date according to departmental guidelines. Leads and trains subordinates in the implementation of work schedules and processes; reviews work in progress and completed work for compliance with departmental standards. Reports on work methods efficiency and effectiveness. As directed by the Custodial Services manager; Inspects, maintains and repairs custodial equipment; Inspects, maintains, and repairs non-structural or systems components of campus structures, including doors, walls, trim, boards, and similar items. Operates and maintains/updates custodial management computer systems/software in accordance with departmental guidelines. When authorized by the Custodial Services Manager, modifies work loading and assignments. Coordinates operations and custodial coverage with other crew supervisors as directed by the Custodial Services manager and in accordance with departmental guidelines. Ensures that employees perform their tasks safely and efficiently, guiding their work and identifying training needs. Takes or recommends corrective or disciplinary action when necessary as authorized by and in coordination with the Custodial Services manager. Monitors and reports on implementation of campus safety program(s) as applicable; participates in safety meetings; may give training on safety subjects; monitors disbursement of safety bulletins and other safety information; promptly reports any and all accidents/injuries; makes periodic checks at job sites to ensure that proper personal protective equipment is issued to employees, PPE is being properly used and that safe work plans are implemented. May assist in interviewing, selecting, and training departmental employees. Conducts job-site inspection of work in progress, provides performance feedback to employees, provides the Custodial Services Manager with a written assessment of employee work performance as instructed; keeps the Custodial Services Manager informed and provides written documentation of recurring employee work performance concerns. Position will require daily and extensive use of computers, software and phone. Prepares MS Word/Excel documents, and demonstrates effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and other software determined by supervision. Intermediate level skills in use of Custodial management software, Microsoft Access Database, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, other Office Suite programs and other software systems as determined by the Custodial Services Manager; Ability to use online software for the purposes of quality control, workloading, work scheduling, inventory management, supply replenishment, equipment tracking and repairs, and other items as assigned. Coordinates and directly supports departmental and college programs as assigned; assists in the development of departmental guidelines and procedures as assigned; Assists in addressing complaints and service concerns, may develop and implement resolution(s) in coordination with the Custodial Services Manager Issues corrective and disciplinary actions under the supervision of the Custodial Services Manager. Performs quality control inspections of any and all campus structures and locations as assigned by management. Performs routine inspections on campus for compliance with APPA, ISSA, and other accreditation or industry cleanliness standards as determined by the Custodial Services manager. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 2 years overall work experience in custodial, general, and/or building maintenance. Computer experience with MS Office, e-mail, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems Working knowledge of custodial standards and operations. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience Experience using Compuclean Experience working in a customer service organization. Experience in Custodial Services for a government, higher education institution or similar complex employment. Additional Information Terms of Employment This is a full-time position classified position scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday - Friday. The starting salary is $34,680 with periodic increases and earning potential to $44808 annually. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is represented by the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA). Most candidates will be hired at the beginning of the assigned salary range and advance after 6-months of continuous employment and every year following, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
