Job Description Job Description Functional Job Title: Instructor & Program Coordinator: Accounting and Tax (Part Time Hourly) Category: Instruction Location: Lehman College - School for Continuing and Professional Studies Salary: $40.45 per hour Status: Part-time Schedule: Courses may be offered day, evening (ie., 2X per week 6:30-9:30pm), and weekend and in a variety of formats including hybrid (Online/In-Person) General Description Lehman College School of Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS) seeks experienced instructors with experience teaching Accounting and Tax courses. We are looking to hire instructors with finance industry experience to meet the growing demand to prepare Bronx residents for Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Tax Preparer positions. Responsibilities Instruction/Curriculum/Administration Provide both in-person classroom training, as well as virtual instruction through the College’s digital learning environment platform and other technologies Provide lesson plans to create and update curricula; plan course content and methods of instruction in a manner designed to assist the student to achieve the specific course objectives Provide each student and College staff at the beginning of each course with a syllabus / course outline Select textbooks, e-materials and/or manuals and communicate information to staff Prepare and administer written, oral, and performance activities, tests, and assessments to students Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, and other records and databases according to program needs or requirements Proficient in independently using the College's various platforms, particularly those for instructor management, course management, payroll, communication, and enrollment management, which require high accuracy and attention to detail Provide prompt and efficient service to College staff Participate in College meetings as appropriate Program of Study Teach courses in Accounting and Tax in-person and virtual, while leveraging a variety of instructional methods like visual aids and interactive activities Share knowledge about the accounting and tax industry and career opportunities Coordination Monitor and maintain program and course descriptions for accuracy Evaluate instructor performance and review/update current program content to maintain academic integrity and to align with industry needs Collaborate with CE staff on course pricing and profitability (including enrollment targets and breakeven) Schedule each semester’s classes and submit by catalog deadline Lead marketing and orientation sessions Respond to student inquires, provide student support and advise students Track program outcomes such as exam pass rates, student evaluations, etc. Maintain account relationship with program accreditation organization Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching adult learners Minimum 3 years’ teaching accounting and taxation Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Experience with Excel, QuickBooks and other Accounting software Company Description With more than 60,000 alumni and 12,000 students, Lehman College serves the Bronx and our surrounding region as an intellectual, economic, and cultural center.
