Aptive Resources is seeking experienced and highly skilled Cardiac Catheterization Lab/Electrophysiology Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the Atlanta VA Medical Center. The Cath Lab RN will be responsible for ensuring that nursing care complies with accepted standards of care and clinical practice, using sound judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in the Cath Lab Unit setting. Shifts: Nurses assigned to the Cath Lab can expect to work four 10-hour shifts from 0730 to 1800. Primary Responsibilities Patient Care: Provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients in the Cath Lab. Coordinate and implement patient care specific to the Cath Lab setting. Conduct thorough assessments and monitor patients for signs of life-threatening conditions. Administer and manage medications, including moderate sedation. Clinical Procedures: Perform insertion of peripheral lines and collection of blood samples by venipuncture, central lines, and swan Ganz catheters. Draw arterial blood from existing lines. Conduct hemodynamic monitoring. Set up and monitor intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Impella (Heart Pump) devices for high-risk PCI procedures. Assist with and monitor patients requiring Rotoblator and Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (CSI) rotational atherectomy systems. Respond to cardiac emergencies following ACLS protocols and perform 12 lead EKGs as needed. Set up and manage external pacemakers under physician direction. Documentation and Communication: Record pertinent patient information in CPRS, CART CL, and WITT Systems throughout the shift. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and treatment plans. Professional Standards: Adhere to national guidelines and facility protocols. Maintain skills and knowledge related to infection control and prevention of blood borne pathogens transmission. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement and participate in quality assurance activities. Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership and direction to other healthcare personnel as needed. Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other departments. Minimum Qualifications Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association. Moderate Sedation Certification or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in an intensive care setting, including Critical Care/Cath Lab experience. Must have worked within the last six months in a critical care or Cath Lab setting. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field is highly preferred. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and critical thinking. Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring and managing cardiac emergencies. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to complete and successfully pass any required government background check Desired Qualifications Preferred: Acute/Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) certification through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation (AACN).
