Overview
The Internal Medicine Student Program Technician is responsible for operational administration of the
Student Education Program for the Department of Medicine (DOM), averaging a total of 500 second, third
and fourth year students annually.
This position serves as the liaison for the DOM with regard to the School of Medicine (SOM) Undergraduate
Medical Education (UME) program and provides technical support for the Student Education Program. It
requires a thorough and detailed knowledge of national accreditation policies, federal student privacy laws,
hospital and institutional policies, as well as a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, problem
solving, and accuracy, in addition to well-developed analytical, technical, and mathematical abilities, and
strong collaborative skills.
With direct oversight and direction from the Student Education Course Directors and Vice-Chair for Education
and supervision by the Educational Programs Manager, this position collaboratively develops and
implements student education curricula. Provides technical oversight and management of various software
for the purpose of evaluating and grading medical student performance, data tracking, and statistical
reporting. Ensures compliance with requirements of the applicable accrediting bodies and the OHSU School
of Medicine UME program.
This role is integral to the student experience, compliance and function of the SOM Internal Medicine curriculum, educational innovation and management of tracking systems, statistical reporting, and the grading process for Internal Medicine student courses, both required and elective. The person in this position must be able to evaluate feedback, possess a high level of understanding of technology, and should be a self-starter with the ability to function independently, yet distinguish when faculty or supervisors need to be involved. An ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both written and verbally, is essential. A high degree of confidentiality is required.
