Job Description Job Description Salary Range: $48,000-$64,800 MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to return the city's blighted and vacant properties to productive use. We utilize a variety of Sales programs to make homeownership and land purchases accessible to Detroiters. Plus, we take our commitment to revitalization one step further with our Compliance and Nuisance Abatement programs, requiring renovation and occupancy to improve neighborhoods, eliminate blight, and combat real estate speculation. The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small. As a member of the Accounting & Finance team, the accountant II role is a transactional role with activity includes the daily, weekly and monthly activity for all financial related matters. Examples of the transactional duties of this role are noted as follows. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Monitor all financial activity through the review of bank transactions daily to ensure all transactions are aligned with allowable expenditures. · Vendor management responsibilities for contract responsibilities, vendor payments, · Manage Accounts payable and receivables activity as duties are assigned. · Prepare journal entries and supplementary financial reports. · Reconcile various general ledger accounts. · Perform balance sheet account reconciliation. · Prepare financial transactions to be recorded into the accounting system. · Assist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements. · Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices. · Special accounting assignments as required – daily, weekly, monthly, or ad hoc. · Prepare analysis of accounts, vendor activity or revenue sources as requested. · Assist with preparation for the annual audit. · Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS NOTE: Some knowledge in the area listed is required at the entry, developing knowledge is required at the experienced level, and thorough knowledge is required at the advanced level. · Thorough understanding of sub-ledger to general ledger relationship Excellent verbal and written communication skills EDUCATION · Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field · 3 to 5 years accounting related experience, including working in a lead and/or trainer capacity.
