Job Title: PLC Engineer Job Location: Peabody MA 01960 Onsite Requirements: IEC 61131-3 PLC Languages Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time Job Description: Position Overview: The client is seeking a highly experienced PLC Engineer with 7-10 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and programming complete PLC systems from inception to execution. The candidate should also possess expertise in designing and programming PLC systems from scratch, with a deep understanding of PLC languages listed in the IEC 61131-3 standard, especially ladder logic. This role involves traveling, up to 50%, to client sites for system installations and support. Responsibilities: Design and develop comprehensive PLC-controlled baggage handling systems, including hardware selection, plc programming, and integration. Configure and program managed switches, including VLAN setup, port access control, security patching, redundancy implementation, and performance monitoring. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with integrated systems promptly and systematically. Provide technical support and assistance to field engineers during system installation and commissioning. Document and maintain detailed records of PLC programs and system configurations. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in PLC programming and automation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 7-10 years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation design. Proficiency in PLC protocols, particularly Profinet Proficiency in PLC languages listed in the IEC 61131-3 standard, particularly ladder logic. Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet and Modbus. Ability to interpret and follow electrical and mechanical schematics accurately. Proven experience designing and implementing full-scale automation systems. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Willingness to travel up to 50% for on-site installations and support. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Siemens products and toolsets. Proficiency in HMI/SCADA systems and programming. Demonstrated experience in performing in-field installations and integrations. Competence in working with managed switches and possessing general network topology knowledge. Familiarity with Linux operating systems is preferred. Certifications in PLC programming or industrial automation. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and concepts.
