Job Summary

Performs advanced fiscal, accounting, and general ledger functions. Prepares budgets, financial forecasts, and research.


Essential Functions

This position provides financial and accounting support for both sponsored projects and discretionary accounts in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The primary responsibilities for this position include data entering and reconciling all financial data, generating and tracking invoices, tracking and processing subcontract invoices, preparing cash deposits, creating and monitoring budgets and preparing financial projections. The incumbent will coordinate the reporting of all accounts in each faculty members portfolio and will analyze, interpret and present financials for review to Department Administrator before providing to the Faculty/Faculty/Principal Investigators. In addition, the incumbent will help ensure that all charges comply with the University and sponsor policies and initiate journal entries/cost transfers, personnel effort changes and budget modifications as necessary. The person in this position will collaborate frequently with the Swanson School of Engineering's Sponsored Projects Office and the University's Sponsored Projects Accounting team to help provide a high level of financial services and support to the department to the department's faculty. This position will also be required to at times provide backup and/or assistance to the purchasing and CONCUR Travel management functions as Department Administrator deems necessary.

This position requires knowledge of accounting and well as grants administration in a higher education institution. Independent judgement, analytical skills, attention to detail and confidentiality are required. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external personnel. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines in an organized fashion is a must.
