Job Scope

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer (SME) supports Acumed medical devices' lifecycle by meeting production and new product development goals. This involves developing, integrating, validating, and improving production processes and systems. The SME drives continuous improvement by eliminating waste and adopting new manufacturing methods. The SME co-owns Acumed’s COGS, OTD, and NPI targets, ensuring processes comply with regulated GMPs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about manufacturing, excels in a quality-first, regulated environment, has strong verbal communication and technical writing skills, and uses analytical methods to solve problems. They should have a “go and see” mentality and be comfortable on the shop floor.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides manufacturing expertise in DFM/A and product quality through process characterization, documentation, equipment, tools, fixtures, and qualification.
  • Manages all details of new product launches; develops and implements advanced inspection methods.
  • Manages corrective/preventative actions (CAR/SCAR).
  • Evaluates inspection frequency based on risk management and process capability.
  • Uses statistical techniques for validation protocols and process capability studies.
  • Actively participates in team activities to ensure success.
  • Leads Process Improvement (Pi) initiatives and implements Lean tools.
  • Reviews and approves Process Validation protocols and reports.
  • Prepares new equipment proposals with ROI justification.
  • Manages technical projects and leads cross-functional groups.
  • Communicates effectively with all organizational levels.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) or equivalent
  • 5+ years in manufacturing engineering or related field
  • Advanced 3D CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, PRO-E)
  • Applied understanding of GD&T and machining capabilities, CNC programming
  • Experience selecting and commissioning new production equipment
  • Experience with ROI analysis and investment justification
  • Experience with Process Validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Proficient with statistical tools (control charts, trending, Minitab, JMP)
  • Effective communication at all organizational levels

NPI Value Stream:

  • Key liaison between Product Development Teams and Manufacturing
  • Experience in Process Validation and New Product Development
  • Experience in Project Management and Product Lifecycle Management
  • Familiarity in relevant manufacturing processes (Swiss turning, Mass Finishing, 5-axis milling, labeling, packaging, parts washing, drying, anodization, electro-polishing, passivation)

Target Compensation: $104,694.96 – $127,960.50 plus incentive
