About the Job

We have an opening for a Psychiatric Medical Assistant I our Central Clinic in Medford, Oregon. The Psychiatric Medical Assistant I will work cooperatively with Outpatient Services Program providers and personnel to carry out clinically indicated outpatient therapy services, which helps maintain continuity of care for members within our community. They will support our Licensed Medical Providers with medical assisting duties, including scheduling appointments, documentation, preparing patient for examination by setting up telemedicine program, performing preliminary physical tests, taking vital signs, and gathering patient history information. The Psychiatric Medical Assistant will engage clients and act as their advocate when dealing with other team members and maintain an active, visible, regular and reliable presence within the clinic.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Full Time, Day)

What You’ll Make

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour DOE/Credentials.

Additional 5% Language Differential offered for Bilingual or Multilingual candidates (Spanish/English desired).

About the Program

Our Outpatient Program provides assessment and evaluation, treatment plan development, and provides clinically indicated outpatient therapy, case management, skills training, and psychiatric (medication) services. The Psychiatric Services Team operates as a branch within the Outpatient Program, specializing in psychiatric, nursing, and medication services. Psychiatric services are provided both on-site and remotely through telemedicine.

ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

What You’ll Need

Successful candidates:

  • MUST possess a current medical assistant certification
  • Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AMAA) or registered assistant (CMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) is preferred
  • Previous experience working in a community health setting, with clients experiencing mental illness, working with homeless and/or underserved populations is preferred


Successful applicants MUST have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, sit, stand, walk, reach; as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. It may require the ability to occasionally climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable. In addition, you must successfully completecrisisde-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. Reasonable accommodations can be made.
