Job Description

The Electronic Technician Maintenance II position supports the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program (ATMP) contract at Fort Cavazos, Texas. The ETM II position involves working in a high visibility, Army Aviation environment providing LBTESS support to aviation units scheduled for LBTESS tactical training exercises, at Home Station and/or the various Combat Training Centers (CTC’s). This support is rendered in both garrison and field type working environments and conditions, as the unit’s training schedule dictates. The position requires extensive travel both in the Continental United States (CONUS) as well as to installations in Germany and Korea (OCONUS). The ETM II performs duties and assignments under the direct supervision of the LBTESS Aviation Contact Team (ACT) Manager and his assigned representative (ETMIII).

Job duties include:

  • Provides the technical expertise in all Army Aviation maintenance, safety practices and procedures as required for the integration of the rotary-wing aircraft and the LBTESS system.
  • Required to work in compliance with all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and wear appropriate personal protective equipment in the performance of all assigned tasks.
  • Must have the ability to perform duties in extreme weather conditions and must be willing to work any shift, weekends, holidays.
  • Performs and enforces “By the Book” maintenance activities on the AH-64D/E aircraft designated for LBTESS operations.
  • Prepares equipment for shipment to and from LBTESS activity sites.
  • Performs inventory of LBTESS kits and components during turn-in and issue.
  • Depending on unit’s assigned aircraft that are scheduled for LBTESS training exercises, the ETMII may be required to provide assistance as necessary to unit personnel in installation, MOCs, and de-installations of “passive” Universal TESS Kit (UTK) and SMODIM/DCI instrumentation equipment. Supported airframes would include UH-60A/L/Q, CH-47D, UH-1H/V, and UH-72.
  • Will be required to perform LBTESS laser bore sighting procedures, system diagnostics and troubleshooting to determine faulty equipment. Repairs will be completed in accordance with all technical manuals, established maintenance and safety practices and procedures that are within their scope and level of maintenance authorization.
  • Documenting all processes and actions in accordance with ISO procedures and as directed by management personnel.
  • Will be accountable for all assigned tools, test and support equipment.
  • Conducting periodic maintenance as scheduled or required by procedures.
  • Identify, turn-in and exchange of faulty Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s) to designated maintenance facility for repair.
  • Will be cross-trained to support other TADSS and may be assigned tasks to support other ATMP contract equipment on the installation.


Job Requirements

  • Prefer minimum, three years army aviation experience as a maintenance or armament technician, with flight line, Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) and field experience.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of the applicable aircraft’s systems and cockpit procedures, concerning switchology, weapons systems, operations, targeting and designating systems, and associated mission equipment. This will be performed in accordance with the associated technical, maintenance, operator’s manuals and checklists.
  • Will be required to successfully complete the Longbow Tactical Engagement Simulation System (LBTESS) Aviation Contact Team training program before being considered qualified and certified to perform LBTESS support duties. This training included classroom instruction and exams, technical manual familiarization exams, and extensive hands on practical training in garrison and field environments.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver’s license and maintain post/company driving privileges.
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to travel on temporary duty to other installations including OCONUS.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • U. S. Citizenship required.
