Strategic Souring Manager Responsibilities: As a Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain operations, particularly in the procurement and management of commodities vital to our defense projects. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to optimize the sourcing, procurement, and management of key commodities, ensuring reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting competitive quotes for specific customer projects, leveraging your expertise in market analysis, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations to meet customer requirements while maximizing profitability. A qualified candidate will be able to perform the following task:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for critical commodities, ensuring a robust and diversified supply base to mitigate risks and maximize value.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing performance, and resolving issues to ensure the availability of high-quality commodities and services.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve lead times while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to commodity supply, including geopolitical, economic, and operational risks, to ensure continuity of supply and minimize disruptions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies governing the procurement and management of commodities in the defense industry, including ITAR, EAR, and DFARS requirements.
  • Cost Management: Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives, including value engineering, process optimization, and supplier negotiations, to achieve cost savings targets without compromising quality or performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business objectives and project requirements.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis and research to stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, supplier capabilities, and competitive landscapes, informing strategic decision-making and identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Customer Quotations: Prepare and submit competitive quotes in response to customer inquiries and requests for proposals. Utilize market analysis, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations to ensure quotes meet customer requirements while optimizing profitability. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure quotes are submitted on time and in compliance with customer specifications and contractual obligations. Ensuring adherence to all customer portal requirements, encompassing timely submission of quotes, accurate promise dates, and prompt acknowledgment of purchase orders. Act as a liaison between the organization and the customer during the quoting process, addressing any questions or concerns. Maintain accurate records of quoting activities and performance metrics to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Strategic Souring Manager Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The Strategic Sourcing Manager must possess a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field and proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry.

Other Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of defense procurement regulations and compliance requirements, including ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and FAR.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and driving favorable outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional and organizational boundaries.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, anticipate future challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and supply chain management software.
