Job Description The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) in Region Four - Sevier is hiring for the summer season If you are looking for outdoor seasonal summer work, the Utah Department of Transportation is in need of Seasonal Transportation Technicians or General Maintenance Workers on the Sealcoat Crew . We are looking for hardworking, hands-on individuals to fill several vacancies. These positions are full-time, temporary positions that will assist UDOT with its busy summer season. We are willing to train the right person for the job The position may be filled as a Transportation Technician I if you have a Class 'A' Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or a General Maintenance Worker II if you do not have a CDL. Principal Duties As part of our Sealcoat Crew, you are responsible for: Working on our chip seal crew. Flagging. Tabbing. Shoveling. Driving a pickup or one-ton truck, which may include pulling a trailer. Running a roller or self-propelled broom. Maintaining roadways including vegetation, weed control, drainage, sign and structure maintenance, litter pick-up, repairing fences and guardrails, yard and driveway cleaning, etc. Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards. UDOT will provide: All training and certification for Flagging. All personal protective equipment (PPE). You will report to the UDOT Maintenance Station in Sevier for work. Hotel and meals will be reimbursed when working out of town. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidates for this position will: Have a current Class D driver's license. Have the ability to routinely lift heavy objects (minimum of 50 pounds). Be able and willing to work outdoors in various types of weather and conditions. Be a dependable and reliable self-starter. Work well in a team environment and independently as required. Preference may be given to applicants who have: Experience operating heavy equipment. Experience with and/or knowledge of roadway maintenance/construction. If you have a Class "A" CDL: The position will be a Transportation Technician I and the starting pay will be no less than $20.74/hour. If you do not have a Class "A" CDL: The position will be a General Maintenance Worker II and the starting pay will be no less than $16.31/hour.
